Curly R is off the bye weekend, I am over at neighbor Bill's, rewatching the Redskins-Eagles Monday night game on NFL Game Rewind. He has quite the rig, with two 42 inch monitors, one for the game and one for stats.
As you were.

Add to myYahoo! In the absence of regular starter Greg Ellis last Sunday, right defensive end Matt Shaughnessy had a breakout game against the Chargers, according to the Contra Costa Times. He finished the day with a sack, five tackles and two tackles for loss. With Ellis likely out until at least early December, the rookie will have [...]

Add to myYahoo!Despite the Raiders being young and inexperienced at wide receiver, head coach Tom Cable says the team will not pursue the recently released Chris Chambers, according to the Contra Costa Times. The Raiders have a lot of talent in their receiving corps, but they are prone to drops and miscommunication. It surely doesn’t help that [...]

about 1 month ago: Florida quarterback Tim Tebow throws a pass during warm ups prior to an NCAA college football game against Charleston Southern in Gainesville, Fla., on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009.(AP Photo/John Raoux)
Per Scout.com, the Jaguars will have scouts in attendance at the Florida-Vanderbilt game this weekend. In addition, the Buccaneers, Cowboys, Rams, Chiefs, and Dolphins will have scouts in attendance.
Who will they be looking at? Tim Tebow is the obvious answer here, though there are plenty of other NFL prospects in the Orange and Blue.
Carlos Dunlap, DE-Dunlap is an incredibily gifted, though raw defensive end.
Joe Haden, CB-Haden has been looking good so far this year and may be the first corner taken in a draft where Safety's are stealing the secondary spotlight.
Brandon Spikes, LB-Probably the best 4-3 linebacker in the country right now. I believe he'll get the most looks from the Jags scouts of the big name prospects.
Mo Pouncey, G-A massive junior guard who may be the best interior lineman in the country. If he elects to come out he'll clearly be the best guard in the draft.
Anyone know of Vanderbilt players who the Jags may look at?

Add to myYahoo!(L-R) National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell, Rob Manfred, executive vice president of labor and human resources in the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball, Major League Baseball, NFL Players Association Executive Director DeMaurice Smith, Michael Weiner, general counsel for the Major League Baseball Players Association, Travis Tygart, CEO of the United States Anti-Doping Agency, Gabriel Feldman, associate professor of law and director of the Sports Law Program at Tulane University Law School, and Jeffrey Standen, professor of law at the Willamette University College of Law (L-R), are sworn in prior to testifying on Capitol Hill on November 3, 2009 in Washington, DC. The hearing focused on doping in professional sports.

National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell testifies on Capitol Hill on November 3, 2009 in Washington, DC. The hearing focused on doping in professional sports.
Frustrated by court decisions that blocked the suspension of two football players who tested positive for banned substances, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is asking Congress for help.
"We believe that a specific and tailored amendment to the Labor Management Relations Act is appropriate and necessary to protect collectively bargained steroid policies from attack under state law," Goodell said in testimony prepared for a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing Tuesday.
Recent court decisions "call into question the continued viability of the steroid policies of the NFL and other national sports organizations," Goodell said. A copy of his testimony was obtained by The Associated Press.
The NFL had attempted to suspend Minnesota Vikings Pat Williams and Kevin Williams for four games, but the players sued the league in state court, arguing the league's testing violated Minnesota laws. The case was moved to federal court, and the NFL players union filed a similar lawsuit on behalf of the Williamses and New Orleans Saints players who were also suspended.
In May, a federal judge dismissed the union's lawsuit and several claims in the Williamses' case but sent two claims involving Minnesota workplace laws back to state court. A judge there issued an injunction prohibiting the NFL from suspending the players and has scheduled the trial for March 8. In September, a federal appeals court panel agreed with those decisions, essentially allowing the Williamses, who are not related, to continue playing while the case proceeds in state court.
The Vikings players tested positive in 2008 for the diuretic bumetanide, which is banned by the NFL because it can mask the presence of steroids. The players acknowledged taking the over-the-counter weight loss supplement StarCaps, which did not state on the label that it contained bumetanide. Neither player is accused of taking steroids.
The court ruling led the NFL to allow New Orleans defensive ends Charles Grant and Will Smith, who had also been issued four-game suspensions, to continue playing. Both players tested positive after using StarCaps.
DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the NFL players union, said this case differs from others. He said Dr. John Lombardo, who oversees the league's steroid policy, learned that StarCaps contained bumetanide but did not inform the players.
"Frankly, the fundamental failure of that doctor to ensure immediate disclosure of the fact that StarCaps included bumetanide violated his paramount duty as a doctor -- to protect patients, in this case, our players," Smith said in his prepared testimony, also obtained by The AP. Smith called for changes to the league-union steroid policy that would mandate the NFL notify players when it learns that a product contains a banned substance.
Rob Manfred, Major League Baseball's executive vice president of labor relations, also discussed a legislative remedy in his testimony, saying "a narrowly drafted statute could solve the problem faced by professional sports" while preserving the role of collective bargaining in drug programs without interfering with states' prerogatives.
But Michael Weiner, general counsel at the Major League Baseball Players Association, said that legislation is unnecessary. A bill to pre-empt state law, he argued, "would stand for the unusual proposition that parties to a collective bargaining agreement can contract for that which is illegal under state law."Stats Writer,CK0712Wikio

Add to myYahoo!Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, left, talks with a former teammate, Seattle Seahawks running back Edgerrin James
The struggling Seattle Seahawks have released running back Edgerrin James.
The Seahawks made the move today, two days after a lackluster 38-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
James signed with Seattle in late August hoping to revitalize a career that fell flat after moving from Indianapolis to Arizona.
In seven games as the backup to Julius Jones, James had just 46 carries for 125 yards and no scores. He averaged just 2.7 yards per carry.
James gained 17 yards at Dallas to pass Marcus Allen for 10th place on the NFL's all-time rushing leaders list with 12,246 yards.
Seattle also released safety C.J. Wallace and cornerback Travis Fisher and signed receiver Mike Hass, safety Jamar Adams and cornerback Roy Lewis from the practice squad.
**SIDE NOTE** that team has greater issue's then Edge.......well at least he can devote his time full on, to his kids now.Stats Writer,CK0712Wikio

Add to myYahoo!Maiocco had a couple interesting comments on his Twitter page yesterday looking at the 49ers potential playoff chances:
Niners just need to hold serve w/ Cardinals and beat them Dec. 14. RT @_brandone_ What do these injuries mean to postseason hopes?
about 8 hours ago from web 49ers-Cardinals game, possible NFC West decider, is 6 weeks from today.
about 7 hours ago from txt
Indeed, the 49ers and Cardinals' remaining respective schedules could lead to quite the close to the season. There are nine games left, but there is a bit of symmetry worth exploring. Before we get into it, I can definitely acknowledge that the Seahawks are still alive in the potential playoff race. They're a game back of San Francisco and two back of Arizona, which could obviously be made up. However, for the purposes of this post, we'll hold off on discussing the Seahawks. As the weeks progress, if things change we'll adjust accordingly.
I decided to utilize a table for this post, and due to the length of it I've posted it after the jump. Feel free to comment on my predictions, or make your own.
I've put together a table with each of the 49ers and Cardinals remaining opponents and some quick predictions from me. If the 49ers want to win the division, as Maiocco said, they simply need to hold serve with Arizona and then beat Arizona at home Monday night December 14.
I'm sure plenty of folks will disagree with my quick predictions here, but I honestly don't think they're completely out of the realm of possibility. Maybe it's a bit optimistic, but I actually think one could make an argument for all of the wins and losses listed below.
The end result is both teams finish 10-6 with the 49ers getting the tiebreaker. Maybe that's just a little too neat and tidy for folks, but I'll roll with it for now. In making the predictions I can honestly say it was just a once-through picking games and not thinking how I could figure out the right numbers. I went with what I feel was my gut instinct, which might be the most honest I could be at this point. Or subliminally I was adjusting on the fly.
Either way, I would certainly be ecstatic to see this end result. It all starts this Sunday with Tennessee and Chicago on the respective dockets. I'd imagine the team isn't "scoreboard-watching" at this point, but I certainly have no problem as a fan doing a bit of scoreboard watching.

Enjoy that carry MoJo, I'm going to audible out the next drive.
It is being reported that David Garrard has been told by the team to not audible out of running plays as much. The coaching staff was widely criticized for opening up the game with nine straight passing plays. However, the first two plays were called runs to Maurice Jones-Drew that Garrard then audibled to passing plays.
And the plot thickens. If this is the case, is it the coaching staff trying to cover their butts, did MJD complain behind closed doors, or something else?
They'll make what coach Jack Del Rio called "hard ball calls." That means quarterback David Garrard will be told on occasion not to call audibles out of running plays and into passing plays.....
"We took that privilege away or that ability away and said, "Look, just hand it to him and let him run the ball,' " Del Rio said.
Del Rio also said that if Reggie Nelson doesn't tackle better in the future than he did against the Titans, he won't be in the lineup. Nelson moved from safety to cornerback in place of injured Rashean Mathis on Sunday.

Add to myYahoo!Even though Jeremi Johnson is working through a knee injury he suffered against the Chicago Bears, the Bengals signed fullback Fui Vakapuna off the Arizona Cardinals practice squad, Geoff Hobson writes. Vakapuna will go to the team's 53-man roster, which will require the team to either release/waive a player, or move them to an open spot on the practice squad.
Along with Jeremi Johnson and Chris Pressley, Vakapuna was featured on Hard Knocks as a major storyline of whom makes the squad as the team's fullback. And Vakapuna was generally the least impressive of the three. Johnson made the squad and Pressley was moved to the team's practice squad before he was signed away to Tampa Bay's 53-man roster.
