Quinn Gray is now one of 5 QB's on Indy's roster vying for a spot. The other's are Peyton, Josh Betts, Jim Sorgi, and rookie Adam Tafralis.
Peyton's injury virtually guarentees that Indy will carry 3 QB's. Quinn may just end up being a camp arm, but he could just as easily be on the final roster. The competition behind Peyton is pedestrian to say the least, so Gray's biggest obstacle will be learning the system. Best of luck Quinn!

Add to myYahoo!Alright folks, it's time to join in the fun that will be Niners Nation Fantasy Football League. First off, this is open to EVERYBODY, whether you're just an occasional reader who has never registered here, or you're a long time commentor. While registration is required at the league site, you don't have to register at ninersnation.com to join. Although we'd certainly love to have y'all.
Every blog in the network will have a league that will be comprised of the blogger and the readers. Based on the previous thread I had opened, there is enough interest where we can likely form two separate leagues, and possibly even more than that.
Here's how things will work. For now we have one league set up for people to join. As we are a quasi-democracy (minus the whole voting for me thing), we're going to go with a random drawing of people for the first league. There was some discussion of having long-time readers/commentors in their own league but I think it will be more fun mixing in some new blood with some of the old blood. Oh, and if you let your team go dead during the season, the mocking will be merciless and public.
Even though we are filling this league first, all the leagues are equal and the winner of each league will get a prize. I'm working on the prize situation, but it will definitely be more than just a front page post (although that will be available, in addition to whatever else I come up with). Right now I'm thinking some 49ers merchandise (t-shirt, hat, something like that). More word to come on that.
So how do you get in on this action?
Head on over to the league site (http://thefanhouseleagues.com/register/). At that page you'll enter your name and email. Then, in the dropdown menu make sure you find and click on Niners Nation.
From there, I believe you will receive an email soon when the drawing takes place. If you are not selected in that first drawing, never fear, another fantasy league will be up and running as soon as this one is full. I know it's not conducive to a Super Bowl between the winning leagues, but I'm thinking we could work something out where I track the points of the finalists in each league and the winner's are squared off and those same week points are used for a grand champion of Niners Nation. However, we've got plenty of time to figure that out.
Draft date and format are still to be determined. Again, if you have not indicated your interest in one of the threads or via email to me, you are still allowed to register for the drawing.
If anybody has any questions, comments or concerns, please either post a comment in this thread, or email me at the address at the bottom of the screen. I think this will be a lot of fun and can't wait for the season to get going. I'm very competitive and to quote Clubber Lang, "I'm gonna bust you up."

Add to myYahoo!I feel like the ESPN announcers who cover the World Series of Poker: "it's Day FIVE of poker immortality at the World Series of Poker...".

Instead, it's Day 1 of the Cleveland Browns training camp. Our first preseason game is right around the bend, and in a little over a month, we'll be on cloud nine as we prepare to get hyped for the home opener against the Dallas Cowboys. If you're curious how Day 1 went in 2007 for the Browns, here is a link to it. This year, the atmosphere was rather calm and subdued -- something that is to be expected on the first day. The biggest buzz came from before the gates even opened though...
TRAINING CAMP REPORT - DAY 1 (7/23/08)
Stallworth sat out, but he was still on the sidelines supporting the team and catering to the fans. Photo Credit: Mark Duncan, AP"He's a little sore," said Crennel of Stallworth. "When he's ready, he'll be back."Stallworth was seen catching passes on the sideline and also participated in the autograph session to close out the afternoon, but he'll be limited for the next few days. If the injury was something to be concerned about, he would've been rehabbing inside somewhere, presumably.
Crennel looks on as the players gear up for the 2008 season. Here are the sources that can be credited for a great chunk of the information above:
The Browns will hit the field twice tomorrow -- a morning session and an afternoon session. Be sure to check in to Dawgs By Nature for non-stop coverage of training camp 2008!

Add to myYahoo!I’d planned a couple days ago to write a post analyzing which Titans might not be there when training camp opens on Friday. Since then, though, second round pick Jason Jones, third round pick Craig Stevens, and fourth round pick William Hayes have signed, leaving RB Chris Johnson as the sole unsigned draft pick. [...]

Add to myYahoo! In a whirlwind of last minute deals, the Colts have signed all but three of the draft picks. Those two are LBer Philip Wheeler, OG Jamey Richard, and TE Tom Santi. Of the two, Wheeler is the priority, as no matter what Tom Santi will start training camp on the PUP list, along with seemingly everyone else on this team. Joining Santi on the too-hurt-for-training-camp list are Peyton Manning, Dwight Freeney, Bob Sanders, and Ryan Lilja.

Add to myYahoo!Nickelback is considered by many to be a starting position, primarily because the nickel usually plays more snaps than the middle linebacker in the Titans’ defense.Nickel will be one of the most closely contested positions in training camp. The person who earns this job will see plenty of playing time; others will probably see only [...]

Oh, wrong camp, sorry. That's Pete Finney's vision. Not Ours.
Our New Orleans Saints are open for business. Camp started today in Jackson. The troubles and tensions of life can be peeled away just a little by knowing these guys, Our Guys, are running sprints and getting tuned up. Be mindful of this news for those who will tell you they do not keep up with the team: Our New Orleans Saints are leading the way in the newest technologies. They are getting between 85 and possibly 170 MPG on those scooters. Leading edge technology, as we slug it out schlepping it to work, to the grocery, to drop off / pick up the kids. Our New Orleans Saints bring us hope. Most of us.
On the team website, one can find a blog posted by a marked man, Mark Campbell. Marked not to pun his name, rather that he wears number 80, the NY digits of our newest addition, Mr. Stinky. That's pretty tricky to have this guy blogging on the team site. I guess he can't be as free with his opinion as, say Jeffrey or GW.Good luck to Mark and Mr. Stinky. I cannot stop thinking of this image I saw on the team site:
It's like thinking of Destin, FLA while you're in the middle of February. It feels good.
Please follow this link and prepare your newscasts for the first regular season game when Mr. Stinky "lights up", "tasers", or "shocks" the Tampa secondary.
